Preparing for 2027

Preparing for 2027

A Guide for church and small group leaders
Now is a great time to be thinking about and preparing for Term 1 2027 – especially looking at content that can lead your community toward Easter.

At Olive Tree Media, we have designed our series to introduce people to Jesus and help them consider the impact of his life – then and now. Many of these series work well in Term 1 – preparing and inviting people to consider Jesus at Easter.

Hear more from Karl in this video about what you could consider in 2027 and below, you will find more information about our series.

Encounter

People Jesus Met, Then and Now

Watch the Trailer

In this series, Karl Faase unpacks some of the unique stories from Scripture, highlighting how encounters with Jesus bring healing, transformation, and purpose to those on the margins of society, those seeking truth, and those desperate for grace. From Mary’s life-altering meeting with the Angel to the woman healed of a long-term illness, these stories reveal that God continues to meet people in unexpected ways. Each story is reflected upon by a diverse group of voices – ranging from theologians and pastors to cultural commentators and those who have had their own divine encounters.

We’ve put together a practical and comprehensive guide to help pastors and ministry leaders run Encounter in their church.

Inside, you’ll find everything you need to understand the series and confidently implement it across your ministries.

It’s also a great resource to pass on to your pastor, team, or key leaders to show how Encounter can inspire and equip your whole church community.

What Other Leaders Have Said About Encounter

Duncan Brown – Lay Leader in Country Church

Duncan Brown shares what he loved about using Encounter with his congregation in country Queensland. He said that as a lay-led church, January is a difficult time and so to have a ‘plug and play’ series for this time enabled his church to engage with quality material while the leadership had a break.

In this video, he also shares the story of a single mum who went on to share the series with her teenage sons. They watched the series together and discussed the content. It was a really significant resource that empowered her to speak with her boys about Jesus.

Nathan Harris – Senior Pastor of Large Metropolitan Church

Nathan Harris and his church used Encounter as a church-wide series across every service, congregation, and ministry area. More than 4,000 people engaged through Sunday services, and over 90 small groups used the material. The series also ran through their children’s, youth, and young adults ministries, all exploring stories of people who met Jesus – both in the Bible and today.

The church received outstanding feedback, with many sharing how deeply the series impacted them, including several first-time commitments to faith.

Planning for 2027 – When To Start Encounter

Encounter is a 10-episode video series. When run in the lead-up to Easter, we recommend spreading it over 9 weeks, with the final two episodes shown on Good Friday and Easter Sunday.

In 2027, the key dates are:

Sunday 31st January 2027 – Start of series
Friday 26th March 2027 – Good Friday (Episode 9: Grace)
Sunday 28th March 2027 – Easter Sunday (Episode 10: Redemption)

Watch+ is Olive Tree Media’s interactive streaming platform that includes our video series, discussion guide content, church campaign packs and downloadable resources.
